LONDON. – Arsene Wenger admitted Arsenal were nowhere near good enough as Jack Wilshere delivered another injury blow for the sorry Gunners.
Wenger also said Arsenal “have to be patient” with new signing Danny Welbeck after his miss proved costly in the 2-0 Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. The 23-year-old England forward, a £16m arrival from Manchester United this month, shot wide when clean through with the Group D game goalless.

Dortmund scored either side of half-time to secure victory in a match in which England midfielder Wilshere turned his troublesome right ankle to complete a bad night for the Gunners as they were outclassed by Borussia Dortmund.

It left Aaron Ramsey tweeting an apology to the travelling Arsenal fans as he said: “That wasn’t good enough tonight, sorry to all the fans and thank you for your support.”

Gunners boss Wenger said: “On the night it is difficult to go into individual assessment of any player because as a team were not at the required level. “They were very strong in midfield, stronger than us, I agree.

“Congratulations to Dortmund, they were the better team. We had a disappointing performance and overall the result is normal.”

Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil was taken off after another disappointing display that sparked Gunners legend In Wright to tweet: “Arsene get Ozil in the middle, get the team to play around him! He’s £42mill worth of player for a reason! Do something with him PLEASE.”-The Mirror.
