TRIANGLE left back Blessing Chimwamuchere has received a surprise call to the Warriors squad that is set to regroup this morning to continue with preparations for an African Nations Championships first round, second leg clash against Mauritius at Rufaro on Sunday. The Warriors are a carrying a healthy 3-0 lead from the first leg in Curepipe last Sunday that was achieved via a brace from FC Platinum hitman Nelson Mawizisa, which sandwiched How Mine forward Simba Sithole’s strike.

It was a good start for newly appointed coach Ian “Dibango’’ Gorowa who took over from German national Klaus Dieter Pagels who had been in charge for the past seven months.

Gorowa had indicated before going to Mauritius that he would not tinker much with the team but would only try to strengthen those areas he would have deemed weak with the Warriros coach retaining the core of the team that has been in camp since the Cosafa tournament two weeks ago.
It did not come as a surprise when Chimwamuchere is one of the new faces along with Highlanders midfielder Peter “Rio” Moyo.
The pair has previously been on the fringes of Warriors selection.

Warriors team manager Patrick Mutesva yesterday said the technical department that also includes assistant coach Callisto Pasuwa and Richard Tswatswa had dropped two players from the squad that travelled to Mauritius and returned home on Tuesday night.

“From the team that travelled to Mauritius, we have dropped Last Chibwiro  (Black Mambas) and Prosper Matizanadzo (Buffaloes),” Mutesva said.
Mutesva said predatory Chicken Inn forward Tendai Ndoro who is leading the Castle Lager Premiership Golden Boot race had been recalled after being given time off to travel to South Africa for a trial stint at Bidvest Wits.

“I think people are well aware that Ndoro had undergone trials in South Africa and could not join the team for the game in Mauritius but he is now available.

“We have also called up Dominic Chungwa from CAPS United.
“Chungwa was needed for the earlier games but his papers were not in order and he could not travel.

“Now he has sorted out his things out and he would be joining camp along with the others,” said Mutesva.
The Warriors were yesterday given time off to join the rest of the country in taking part in the national elections.

Mutesva, however, said the players would be back to training at the National Sports Stadium this morning before moving to the match venue —Rufaro — in the afternoon.

“At the moment no one is in camp because we have given the players until the end of the day (yesterday) to go and vote if they so wish.
“Besides some of them needed to see their families so we expect everyone to be back in camp tomorrow and we resume our training at 10am.
“We will hold a training session at the National Sports Stadium to loosen up and then in the afternoon we should be at the match venue Rufaro,” he said.

Mutesva said once they shift base to Rufaro they would continue to prepare from the match venue until tomorrow.
Mauritius who were last in Zimbabwe for the 2009 Cosafa Cup were expected to arrive in the country last night
After securing a comfortable first leg win, the Warriors should have little trouble dismissing the Indian Ocean islanders at Rufaro and book a second round date with the winner of the other first round tie between Zambia and Botswana in Ndola.

Chipolopolo and the Zebras played to a 1-1 draw in Molepolele in Botswana last Saturday but the Cosafa champions are string favourites to win through at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
