War veterans in Mashonaland East Province have vowed to support the newly appointed Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Cde David Musabayana by giving him a chance to perform his duties. Cde Musabayana, who met the war veterans last week, promised to work with them.

Speaking during the meeting held at the provincial party office in Marondera, the provincial chairperson for the war veterans Cde Daniel Sigauke urged his members to be disciplined and to respect the Cabinet.

“As war veterans we must not be negative. We are giving our President and the new Cabinet a chance. We are going to support our resident minister. As freedom fighters we have to be disciplined and show our commitment to help the Government build the nation. We have to unite and build the country together and let us not stop worrying about posts. The love for money is bad, it destroys the country. If we rush for posts, it creates disputes within the party,” he said.

Cde Sigauke said the purging of members should stop and the party members should preach forgiveness.
“Go to your districts and preach the word of forgiveness. Let’s distinguish ourselves from the G40 cabal and desist from purging members, but unite as a party. We need to show commitment and move forward,” he said. Cde Musabayana echoed the same sentiments and said he respected war veterans and needed their guidance.

“I promise to work with you in this province because I believe you are a powerful stakeholder of Zanu-PF. Let us avoid disputes and work together in peace. I respect you and I’m against the G40 cabal who blasted war veterans forgetting that they liberated us during the war. Now let us unite and support our President Emerson Mnangagwa whom I believe will lead us to the promised land,” said Cde Musabayana.
