In a male dominated industry it is hard for upcoming female musicians to get kudos when they come up with a good musical production. But Wanai whose real name is Wadzanai, a minnow in the music industry has managed to carve her own piece of history and is likely to get more than its share of nods after releasing a good musical project. The album titled “Shinga”, released last week has been well received judging by the airplay it is receiving right across.

In an interview Wanai said that she mixed different genres on the album to cater for different audiences while maintaining her own style.

For Wanai the journey has been an emotional roller coaster and after the release of her second album entitled “Shinga” last week at Jazz city hangout 24 /7 she feels confident promoting her work.

“It has been a long journey and affects me emotionally just to think I have to keep pushing to achieve my goals,” Wanai said.

“I feel confident with my work which I hope will be well received by music fans,” Wanai said.

The album has seven tracks namely “Ndiye Uye”, “Pindirai Tete”, “Shinga”, “Mudiwa Wangu”, “Shumba Haina Mambo”, “Kana Ndinewe” and “Ridza Ngoma”.

She introduces the album with a powerful track “Ndiye Uye” advising children to look back to their roots and support their parents considering the struggles they go through for the upkeep.

The second track “Pindirai Tete” which is also an up-tempo song urges aunties to play their traditional role in solving family issues.

Wanai engaged popular chanter Shiga Shiga on the third song “Shinga” which is the title track.

Shiga Shiga, a chanter of repute nailed it with perfectly placed chants making the song- which advises people to work hard- a major highlight on the album.

The rhumba track will obviously get you to the dance floor.

“Mudiwa Wangu” is a love song that features Progress Chipfumo.

The feel on the song is good on a moderate tempo and will definitely find a lot of takers, starved of such unique beat.

“Shumba Haina Mambo” warn people on the dangers of the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

Wanai’s “Kana Ndinewe” is a feel good song that displays her ingenuity in music.

The familiar traditional beat on the celebration song “Ridza Ngoma” balances the album, which will afford fans to exhibit their fancy foot works on the dance floor.

Wanai is confident that her second album will compete among a coterie of similar artworks that have been unleashed on the market.

With the help of Haviol Electricals which has been her main sponsor Wanai is aiming for the stars.

Its however sad that Wanai`s songs are short with the longest running for about five minutes, while the rest are three and half minutes long.

She is working on a video album for her latest release.
