Mark 11: 24; “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

A few years ago in despair over a set of circumstances, I cried out to the Lord in prayer. It was my hope and wish that my prayer would be heard and answered instantly.

My prayer was about someone’s behaviour that I really hoped could be changed for the better. As is the norm after you have tried out all the known remedies to solve a problem, it’s natural to go back to the source and beginning of everything, God.

So in despair, having tried all the tricks at my disposal, I turned to the Lord in prayer. To my disappointment the prayer was not answered, if anything the behaviour became worse. The person continued to be a thorn in my flesh .Years later, one day as I was interacting with this person I noticed a marked shift in attitude and discourse, I tried to ignore it, thinking they were just having a good day.

Over the next few months I noticed a distinct change in the person’s attitude and behaviour. At that point it suddenly became clear to me that my prayer of many years ago had been answered. This person had become a new creation over time — the power of prayer.

We sometimes pray and as the years go by and things stay the same or even get worse, we think the Lord has forgotten us. We tend to get tired and we become angry with the Lord.

The truth, however, is that He hears our prayers, decides on the course of action and then ensures that the prayer is answered. We want the answers immediately, but He responds through a set of events that play out and fit into the overall plan for your life.

Are you exhausted and you don’t know where to turn to? Do you feel like He has forgotten about you and your requests? Don’t tire. Patiently wait on Him, like a thief that comes in the night your prayer requests will sneak up on you, wrapped and packaged in a manner you did not anticipate, but answered nevertheless.

My prayer took years to be answered because He knew the best way to deliver my request. The prayer not only changed the other party, God also changed me and how I see and receive things.

Prayer works, just be patient in your faith and before you know it the results will catch you by surprise, sent and delivered from above, just for you.

Be blessed.
