Zimbabwean beauty queen Wendy Ruwiza did the nation proud when she was on Sunday crowned Miss Africa Perth 2015 in Australia in front of a cosmopolitan crowd from all over the world.

She outclassed a bevy of African beauties including fellow Zimbabwean Sakhile Ndlovu when she scooped the prestigious title of Miss Africa Perth (MAP).

The vivacious model walked away with a trophy, $1 000 cash and other prizes worth more than $3 000.

Wendy gave a passionate speech at the ceremony saying she wishes to become a proactive social worker who will help young women from various backgrounds attain their goals.

“I am speechless and happy to have won Miss Africa Perth 2015 and as a Bachelor of Social Work student I shall use this platform to help young women who come from different backgrounds that have been hurt or feel that they are not worth anything understand and know their worth,” she said.

Wendy is a shy but confident model who is always in a jovial mood showing her unwavering passion for helping people.

“I am indeed kind-hearted and always smiling. I love helping people in any way or form. I am very family-oriented, my family are my life,” she said.

Contestants were drawn from across Africa including Zambia, Liberia, Somalia, Rwanda, Ghana and South Africa.

The Zimbabwean beauty expressed her gratitude and was speechless for winning such a prestigious title. Miss Africa Perth is an annual contest that gives young ladies an opportunity to showcase their African heritage that is culture, fashion, tradition, music, art and beauty.

The outgoing Miss Africa Perth was also a Zimbabwean, Nyasha Kunaka, who has been an exemplary leader to the young Zimbabwean women living in the Diaspora.

It seems that Zimbabwe has got all the beauty and brains winning for two consecutive years raising our flag high.
