ZIMBABWEANS Brendon de Jonge and amateur Scott Vincent made the cut at the RBC Heritage Classic at the Harbour Town, Hilton Head, in South Carolina, United States. De Jonge, a regular in the US PGA, finished tied on position 18 after the four rounds while Vincent managed to finish on position 64.The result saw De Jonge pocket $69 229 for his efforts after carding rounds of 70, 68, 67 and 71 for a total eight-under 276.

The Zimbabwean managed to record his 12th cut of the season after also making it into the weekend at last week’s Shell Houston Open.

De Jonge has already surpassed his last season earnings, having played only half the events of 2014.

Last year the former Virginia Tech student played 31 matches, pocketing about $1,1 million, but this year after 15 tournaments he has already racked in $1,229,909.

Vincent carded impressive rounds of 70, 70, 71 and 73 to finish on even par after the four rounds.

He was tied with American professional Charley Hoffman.

Vincent, a senior at Virginia Tech in the United States, was making his maiden appearance on the PGA Tour.

The former Chapman member and St George’s student managed to make a huge impact on the prestigious Tour.

Vincent earned an exemption into the tournament by winning the 2014 Players Amateur golf championship.

He won the event last July by one stroke to secure his spot in the RBC Heritage. The young golfer becomes the first active Virginia Tech golfer to compete in a PGA Tour-sponsored event since Drew Weaver played in the 2008 Masters.

The RBC Heritage Classic, traditionally held the weekend after the Masters, annually draws one of the top fields in professional golf.

Meanwhile, the amateur golfer are strugling in Uganda at the ongoing Zone VI championships. the local players were on position five, having managed to be runners-up last year.
