WARRIORS’ talismanic forward Knowledge Musona has postponed his honeymoon until after Sunday’s Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi and wants to cap a new chapter of his life in style by winning the big match.

A big crowd of over 50 000 is expected at the National Sports Stadium.

Musona wedded his sweetheart Daisy last Saturday at Rain Tree Forest, but had to quickly pack his bags the following day, leaving behind his bride, to report for camp.

“I only had one day, I had to go to camp the next day after the wedding so we need to plan after this weekend and see what happens,” said Musona.

“I don’t want to tell anyone where we are going for the honeymoon, it is between me and my wife. It feels good to wed, I think these two weeks are very special because first it was my wedding day last weekend and this weekend it is a game where we can possibly qualify for AFCON.

“So I think it would be the greatest feeling ever if we take maximum points and qualify, depending on the results between Guinea and Swaziland. Yeah, I am looking forward to Sunday’s match.”

The Belgium-based star praised his close friend Khama Billiat for shining in the South African Premiership.

“I am very happy for Khama. In South Africa, sometimes they have a bias towards locals when it comes to selecting the award winners,” said Musona.

“So, I was very happy when I saw him on television collecting those big awards in South Africa.

“I wish this time he will go somewhere else to better his football, where the professionalism level is higher.

“I hope that he leaves South Africa and goes to a better club in Europe, but I am very happy for him.”

Musona pleaded for patience from the fans on Sunday.

“Football is always about pressure in each and every game, but as professionals, I think we just have to take it easy, be patient and also hope that our supporters would be patient and support us throughout the whole game,” said Musona.

“Normally, when they come they want to see early goals, so I am pleading that they must be patient because it is not going to be an easy game.

“We are just going to play our heart out and try to collect maximum points.

“It is a good game for us and Malawi also because they are bottom and will come and try and take three points.

“We will see on Sunday, but as you can see, the guys are ready and the team is training well and we don’t have so many injuries and hope the week ends like.”

The former Kaizer Chiefs man believes this time they will go all the way to the Nations Cup final.

“If I am not mistaken when I started playing we lost in Cape Verde and then lost in Angola (in the decisive games),” said Musona.

“So, I think this time around we will turn the tables because we have a greater advantage to play this game and collect maximum points and go to 11 points.

“And if Guinea win then we have to try and go there and play for a draw and maybe, even if we lose we might come second best in the group, but we just want to avoid that and try to get an automatic qualification.

“We just hope and pray that we keep collecting maximum points.”

Musona has more often provided for crucial goals in the national team colours and says he is itching to get his name on the scoresheet again after scoring a penalty in the last match against Swaziland at the same venue.

“Every time I play for Zimbabwe and for my club, or I must say every time I play a match, I hope and pray and work hard to score or try to assist so that we get the goals, so I am hoping I will score, if not I will try to contribute something to my teammates.

“You know we have good players in the team and anyone, from defence to attack, can score. We play as a team and we just have to try and collect maximum points.

“We don’t have to count on the strikers alone, but also the defence and midfielders have a good eye for goals and so it is all about teamwork and playing for each other to win a match,” said Musona.
