Former BV Labien singer Vevella Kasirori who had a fallout with the director of the group Sam “Chamangwana” Ndingindi several years ago, has bounced back as a solo artiste after a long hiatus from mainstream music.

“King Vevella” said there are no bad vibes between him and his former boss who runs one of the best rhumba outfits ever to emerge out of Zimbabwe, but instead applauded them for shaping him into the artiste that he is today.

The Chitungwiza-based musician said he is now going solo.

“BV Labien Musica was like home to me and this is the spirit that we encourage for the growth of our industry. I am now focusing on my career more than anything else but as a solo artiste and I can safely say it is good to be back, expect fireworks in months to come,” said King Vevella.

He announced his return with a gig that was held at Ligi Sports Bar in Unit L, Chitungwiza, where he unveiled his new group as well as songs from his soon-to-be released album, “Mamero”.

In street lingo “Mamero” refers to false friends who stab one in the back by saying nasty things about them the moment their back is turned.

King Vevella said his fresh foray into the music circles heralds the return of rhumba music to the top of the game, after having being elbowed out by some other genres like gospel and Zimdancehall.

“We want to bring rhumba to its former glory and this we will manage.”

King Vevella was one of the lead singers at BV Labien Musica which he fronted and released albums like “Kumba Hatiende”, “Malabel Chete” and “Kechi One”, which featured Suluman Chimbetu.

But with “Mamero” King Vevela is set to consolidate his status and also help bring back rhumba to the fore.

“While our brothers and sisters in the Zimdancehall sector are doing good for the music industry, I feel I can further enhance the industry. This is the reason why one of our songs, “Handiende Kumba” was adopted by one of the Zimdancehall artistes,” said King Vevela.

The Chitungwiza-based singer — who is also a gifted dancer — said more is in store for his fans with new dances set to be unveiled.

“Vanotipasa manyemwe, vanopfeka malables chete ngava fare (Those that support us should have fun and more fun),” King Vevella said.
