Renowned gospel choral group Vabati VaJehova launched their latest album ‘‘Tivavarire Denga” on Radio Zimbabwe on Saturday night.  The eight-track album has songs “Korona”, “Tivavarire Denga”, “Ivai Nerudo”, “Inzwi RaTenzi”, “Mushandiri”, “Taungana”, “Ndiyoyi”, “Nguva” and “Kristu Huyai”. One of the group’s leaders Richard Magaya said they decided to come forward with their original album after some songs were leaked on social media early last week.

“Some of the songs were leaked on social media this week but we decided to release the original tracks that we had agreed on,” he said.

Though the album was already finished, the group had to consult with one of the founding members Mamrod Magaya who relocated to South Africa.

“Mamrod is one of the founding members but we consulted with him. I am happy that he has given a nod to the album and we are still moving forward,” said Magaya.

The group suffered a great loss following the death of key group members Wiseman and Timothy Magaya. They have however remained strong and are not losing hope.

“It was a big blow but we are still going on. The group has been doing well and we are optimistic that we will scale the same heights,” he said.

Magaya said the album which comes after a long sabbatical carries soul searching tracks that will touch many souls.

“Our followers have been waiting for a new product and we heard their calls and we are giving them this album and I want to promise them that it is something that was worth the wait. The messages on the album are life changing,” he said.

Vabati VaJehova hit the headlines at the turn of the millennium with popular tracks such as “Ndomudana” and “Mutumwa Anouya”. Some of the albums released by the group include “Mweya Mutsvene WaMwari” which announced the arrival of the group to mainstream music in 1999, “Mirai Naye Jesu” (2007), “Ndivanze Muponesi” (2009) and “Tirimo Munzira”.
