THE crocodile that attacked 11-year-old Tapiwa Kachere from Katiyo Village I in Uzumba last month was captured and killed by officials from the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority with the assistance of the local community over the weekend. Tapiwa, who had his left leg amputated as a result of the attack is still admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

Minister of State for Mashonaland East Province Simbaneuta Mudarikwa yesterday commended the authority for their efforts in the capture of the 3,2 metres long reptile.

“I want to express my gratitude to the department of Parks and Wildlife, the local community for their efforts in killing the crocodile as a lot of people were now living in fear of attacks and also of losing their livestock,” he said. Tapiwa and his father Tafadzwa Kachere were crossing Nyaitengwa River when he was attacked by the reptile.
