US-based comedian comes to Reps Theatre

Comedy enthusiasts are in for a treat as the United States-based Zimbabwean stand-up comedian Alfred Kainga is set to headline a show dubbed “The Home Coming Comedy Night” set for September 22 at Reps Theatre. In an interview with this publication, Kainga who will be visiting the country next month said he is delighted to be finally performing in his home country for the first time.

“It’s a great honour for me to be entertaining my home people there in Zimbabwe for the first time ever since I ventured into the comedy industry. I am looking forward to having a great show as I will make sure that guests laugh their lungs out throughout the show,” he said.

The international comedian said this upcoming show is part of his Africa Tour when he will stage some shows in countries like Nigeria and South Africa he in the month of September.

“I am always on the road and this time coming back home is part of my Africa Tour. I am going to have a number of shows in Nigeria as well as South Africa where l will be sharing the stage with some other comedians,” said Kainga.

For the Reps Theatre show he will be backed by local comedians Q Dube and Long John. Dube says he is excited to share the podium with Kainga.

“I once met Kainga in Texas and sharing the stage with him surely becomes an incredible experience. I am ready to get the ball rolling on the big night,” he said.

Kainga has been in the comedy industry for the past twelve years. He started in Dallas Texas at a place called Hyenas Comedy Club and after gaining some experience he became first runner-up in the finals of the Funniest Comedian in Texas twice. A national competition that brought him into the limelight was Shaq all Star Comedy Competition in 2014 and since then he has been performing in various countries.
