Revolution of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA).
The victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 not only marked the triumph of the Islamic movement in Iran, but also heralded the dawn of a new phase in the Palestinian struggle against the illegitimate state of Zionism.
Barely half a year after the establishment of the Islamic government, the Great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (may his soul be sanctified) made the historic announcement of the last Friday of the majestic month of fasting, Ramadan, as “Quds Day”. This signifies the global Muslims’ gesture of solidarity and support to all the oppressed people of the world as epitomised by the Palestinian people under the Zionist regime.
Pursuant to that, we continue to draw inspiration from Imam Khomeini’s (RA) contribution towards the Palestinian cause and pledge through this article to continue reviving the Palestinian Movement till a just solution is established, that is, the restoration of human rights and liberation of Quds and the Palestinian people.
As one observes, today the Muslim world is, more than anything else, in need of unity, brotherhood and co-operation. On the basis of the concept that Islam is an undivided whole, Muslims are considered as one nation, whose issues are inextricably inseparable. That is the case with the Palestine problem.
It is Islam’s problem before it is deemed as the Palestinians’. Not that the problem wins top priority status due to the existence of Holy Mosques and monuments in Palestine. Rather, it is the Muslim (the most invaluable entity in Islam) who incites and stimulates other Muslims to be more concerned with the problem. All the injustices meted out to the Muslim people of Palestine and the ganging up of istikbar by Zionists and its regional agents against these people, make it obligatory on every Muslim to remind himself always of the Prophetic tradition which states that “whoever wakes up without paying heed to Muslims’ affairs, he is non-Muslim”.
There is no need, therefore, to overemphasise to all Muslims everywhere about the legitimacy of the Palestinian campaign for restoring their rights.
As they say, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. Today, the issue of Palestine is one of the most important issues bedevilling the world.
In fact, no other international issue in the world is more important than the issue of Palestine because the domination of the occupiers of Palestine is the source of many of the weaknesses and problems in the world today. The issue of Palestine is not something that can be treated lightly as it is intertwined with the destiny of non-Palestinians throughout the world.
The issue of Gaza is not about a piece of land. The issue of Palestine is not just a geographical issue: it is a human issue. It concerns the entire humanity. Today the issue of Palestine is the standard that distinguishes between commitment and opposition to human values and principles.
This shows how important the issue is. All nations are thus responsible towards Palestine. All governments are responsible towards Palestine, both Islamic governments and non-Islamic governments.
Today one cannot fail to clearly see that an all-out war has been waged against the entire humanity and not just a certain part of it. This war has economic, political, cultural, and military and security dimensions and it is making use of modern and sophisticated propaganda tools.
What we currently see in Palestine, Syria, DRC or Afghanistan is not just a war against one nation and although they are fighting Palestinians, they are in fact fighting a war against the existence of humanity.
Today we are faced with a great hostile camp that consists of the powers of the world. A camp has been formed in international centres of power — the financial and economic superpowers — which are mainly controlled by the Zionists and great capitalists.
Today the so-called superpowers — namely, the arrogant powers, represented by America — have risen up against humanity and human values. The lives of millions of people have no value for these people.
