UK-based Jah Russ readies double album

Multi-talented UK-based hip hop artiste Justin Russell Tapiwa Musakusa aka “Juss Russ” will this year release a 30 track double album.

The double album has a Shona version which has 15 tracks and the English version with 15 tracks thus making it unique and outstanding.

The Shona version of the album is called “Hupenyu Mutoro” which has seen the artiste travelling all the way from the UK to Zimbabwe to put some work on the project. The album contains songs such as “Tisu Tazviita: which was recorded at Kenako music and it features Rocky that is about legends in the making and how they are ready to showcase their talent out there. The other songs in the album also feature dancehall chanter Hwindy President.

The English version of the album is called Burdens of Life and it contains songs such as Believe that talks about giving hope and inspiration to the hopeless, and another one called Opportunity which talks about how opportunities are grabbed with both hands whenever they come.

In an interview the musician says he has been travelling to and fro to make sure his project is successful.

“I have been travelling to and fro from the UK to Zimbabwe due to different projects I am working on at the moment, some of the projects I cannot disclose now because we have not yet finalised with some big artists out there but the only thing I can assure you about is the album, the double album is definitely coming and it will be on fire I tell you”, says Musakusa.

Musakusa also said he is both a producer and a song writer and also added that he drew his inspiration from listening to different legends when he was young.

“I grew up listening to legends, the likes of Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mtukudzi and other big gurus in the music industry, I am also a producer and a songwriter.

“I am a Christian myself and God is the only role model I have because he is the only one who will never ever let me down”, he explained.

Besides being an artist, The hip hop chanter is also a farmer and designer, he owns his own label called Chehh Chehh which sells perfume, clothes, shoes among other items.

In the UK, Juss Russ is a full time musician, actor and designer. The father of 3 said he is ready to take Zimbabwe by storm through providing it with a different feel in the hip hop industry.

Zimbabweans in the UK have their own awards and festivals that include The Zimbabwe Music and Arts Awards UK, Zimbabwe Achievers Awards, the Mporiro festival, The Zimbabwe International Women’s awards among other awards and festivals, this has opened a platform for young artists, actors and talented people to showcase their talent and be rewarded accordingly. Juss Russ is one artist who has been nominated in some of the awards mentioned above and is looking forward to be nominated at home again, hopefully for the ZIMAs and NAMAs.
