Ugandan female Dancehall Queen, Kaakie is billed to perform at this year’s edition of Harare International Festival of the Arts. This year’s edition of the festival will be running from April 28 to May 3 under the theme “Articulate”.

Bubbed “Dancehall Alliance”, the multiple award winning musician is set to share the stage with Buffalo Soul Jah and Guspy Warrior.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Hifa spokesperson Tafadzwa Simba promised more collaborations at this year’s festival. The three musicians are to share the stage on the second day of Hifa, the CABS day.

“We are going to have these three different musicians from different countries sharing the stage in the Dancehall alliance, thus putting together different regions on one platform,

“Our artist will learn something from the two artists and they will also learn something from him,” he said.

He also said there is going an introduction of a new act, the DJ collaboration party that will see different DJs closing up the second day of the festival. “We are introducing the DJ party on the second day of the festival and this act will run during the late hours of the day, “he said.

Simba added that there will be a number of theatrical acts and some comedy solo shows.

“We are trying by all means to cater for different people from different backgrounds, that’s why we have lined up different acts to suit different people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kaakie’s music has been popular around the region such that she has been invited to perform at a number of festivals in Africa including the Gabon National Music Festival last year.

Other countries like Zambia, Gambia, Uganda and Ivory Coast have also expressed interest in having Kaakie perform on their platforms.

She boasts six enviable awards with more than three years of consistency on the music scene.
