The superstar Oliver Mtukudzi (pictured) will tonight perform at Club Las Vegas in Southerton for the first time. The musician, who hosted other top musicians at his Pakare Paye Arts Centre last week for a show to commemorate his son Sam, has dedicated this month’s shows to honour his son. The show is part of the musician’s programme to take the commemorations to the people, performing in various popular venues in different suburbs.Tonight he shares the stage with Peter Moyo and rising star Sam Dondo in a show that is expected to usher fans into Easter holidays in style.

Organisers of the show said the gig is also meant to celebrate Tuku’s mentorship to young musicians and they have brought in Peter and Dondo to show how the superstar has been grooming young people over the past years.

Both Peter and Dondo have worked with Tuku and they salute the granddad of local music for the guidance he has given them.
A spokesperson of Club Las Vegas said they are glad to host Tuku for the first time and they are expecting a full house at the venue that has hosted big names like Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Suluman Chimbetu.

“A big musician is coming and we have done serious preparations for the show. It is not just any other show and we are treating it as a special event. It will have all the ingredients of a big show.

“This will be an opportunity for our patrons to see their icon in style. Instead of travelling long distances to see Tuku performing at other venues, we have brought him here and we want them to come in their numbers to witness the star in action,” he said.

The managers have put in place a broad programme for the venue during the Easter holidays.
Tomorrow they host Talking Guitars, a group that is famed for doing exciting renditions of top local and international acts in addition to their own compositions.

Rising star Andy Muridzo, who is following Jah Prayzah’s footsteps, will be at Las Vegas on Saturday while DJs Flabba, Soul Train and Chains take turns on turntables on Sunday and Monday.

Other DJs that graced the venue to spin the wheels include Zobha, Squilla, Ayati, Napster, Pathisani and Rumbi Moyo.
