Preparations for an epic show featuring Oliver Mtukudzi and Suluman Chimbetu in Kadoma are at an advanced stage with organisers confirming the latest developments. The grandmaster of katekwe music, Mtukudzi’s unwavering love for the mining town of Kadoma grows stronger with each outing that he makes, and this time around the superstar returns with two of Zimbabwe’s youthful, most-exciting award-winning musicians, Chimbetu and Cynthia Mare.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, one of the show organisers, Kudzai Matondo, affectionately known as Dee Nosh, said the preparations are on course.

“We are happy that everything is already taking shape and with a week to go, the show is one not to miss,” he said.

The show will be at The Odyssey Bar and Grill, on August 7 and this will not be the first time that Tuku and Sulu will be performing at the popular joint which has also hosted some of Zimbabwe’s top musicians like Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata and Jah Prayzah, among others.

What makes the show a must-attend for music lovers is the fact that diva of the moment, Mare, will be joining in the line-up.

This will be a chance for Kadoma fans to witness the talented songbird live on stage right on their door- step.

Mare will be out to further consolidate her stature as one of Zimbabwe’s top female contemporary musicians and deservedly so after scooping three Zimbabwe Music Awards gongs and touring South Africa with that country’s top grossing singer Zahara during which she did a rendition of one of Tuku’s songs with the “Loliwe” hitmaker.

The Best UK, Female Afro/ Caribbean Act winner in the BEFFTA Awards of 2011 has also shared the stage with Hugh Masekela and Steve Dyer and her fans in Kadoma are in for a big treat.

The diva will be bringing in a rich background of stage-work that promises to leave revellers with fond memories of her act and also clamouring for a return leg.

The cherry on top of the cake is without doubt that moment when Mare joins Tuku on stage.

The two stars have performed together before and one cannot help but imagine the excitement and electricity that will be generated by this duet. Tuku, on the other hand, will be out in full force and will unleash tracks off his current album “Mukombe Wemvura” while also doing justice to his previous offering “Sarawoga” as well as a long catalogue of his other crowd favourites.

In similar vein, Sulu will doubtlessly join his mentor on stage for a few tracks, especially the popular duet, “Kwedu”. Sulu will be out in full force and plug tracks off his album “Gunship: Fireguard” also popular among fans as well as some of his other classics.

“These three artistes are high-octane performers and by bringing them to Kadoma, this is one way of obliging to their fans in that town and we are happy to say that they will help in stoking up the heat that will help to bid farewell to the winter chill that is now on its way out,” said DJ Dee Nosh.

Dee Nosh, together with compatriot DJ Knoxx, will do what they know best on the turntables.
