Oliver Mtukudzi and urban groover Roki lit up the resort town of Nyanga with spectacular performances at Montclair Resort and Casino on Saturday night.

The musicians performed before a full house at the after-party of the annual golf event at the hotel.

Mtukudzi’s journey to the Eastern Highlands destination went beyond entertainment as he also performed his role as goodwill ambassador when he handed over foodstuffs and beds to Nyanga Hospital.

The donation was sourced courtesy of ZiFM Stereo, Tanganda Tea and Impala Car Hire.

The day ended with the all-night celebration that beat the cold weather and saw people from all walks of life dancing the night away.

Roki was first on stage and brought the house down with his popular hits and exciting dances.

Although his performance was short, Roki left lasting impressions with a good act.

When Mtukudzi took to the stage, he took the party level higher and proved his expertise with a combination of mellow and fast-paced hits that sealed the pleasure of the night.

Speaking after the show, Mtukudzi’s manager Sam Mataure said although they perform at the venue annually, this year’s edition was made special by their humanitarian gesture at Nyanga Hospital.

“This year’s event was special for us. We have been part of the Montclair golf event for many years, but we are happy we are also reaching out to the Nyanga community in a good way.

“We thank sponsors that sourced the goods we donated and we hope our next trips to Nyanga will bring more good results,” he said.

“We also thank Montclair Resort management for making us constant entertainers at their event.

“We hope the partnership will continue as it also gives a chance for our fans to enjoy music in a serene environment.”

Montclair Resort and Casino general manager Brian Nyakutombwa said this year’s event was bigger and better.

“It is good to have such a successful event once again.

“This year’s edition was great. We are going from one level to another and we promise another big event next year,” he said.

“Our guests enjoyed the scenic environment in the afternoon and good music at night.

“Tuku has always been at his best and Roki did well to make the event memorable.

“Most of our guests enjoyed our good meals and various activities that include tennis, volleyball, swimming, horse-riding and other activities that take place in our exciting natural environment. It was a good weekend indeed.”
