Efforts by several event organisers in Midlands province to take music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi to Zvishavane have been fruitless over the past four years.

Since 2011 the musician has not performed in the mining town despite several promises from promoters.

Tuku’s manager Sam Mataure said they had finally agreed for a joint show in Zvishavane with Sulumani Chimbetu tomorrow.

The two are set to share stage at FC Platinum Club.

Mataure said they are bringing fresh acts to the town for the first time in four years.

“We have not performed there for some time now but we have managed to have a gig that will give us the opportunity to meet with our starved fans,” said Mataure.

He said the superstar would have time to share stage with Chimbetu on their two duets “Idah Nhoro” and “Kwedu”.

“Usually when two artistes have projects together it will be good for them also to share stage performing the songs. It brings fresh dimension to our acts,” he said.

Chimbetu publicist Joe Nyamungoma said the show was another chance to share stage with the great musician.

“Mtukudzi is a great musician and we still have a lot to learn from him musically and backstage,” said Nyamungoma.

He said, though they have been performing in Zvishavane for time now, the show is likely to be big as they perform with the international star.

“We have performed there before but now it is different because we have the superstar with us,” he said. Event organiser Tawanda Pande said they have done the ground work for the show.

“Everything is now in place and we are ready to host the gig. It was long since Tuku last performed in Zvishavane and we decided to bring the combination to fans in the town,” he said.
