Muparuri (27), of Chitungwiza, was taken to hospital after being shot, but is now in custody at Harare Remand Prison.

Police sources yesterday said detectives received information that Macheka was stripping the vehicle in Kuwadzana and swooped on him.
After seeing the police, it is alleged that Macheka tried to flee, but was shot once on the pelvis before being arrested.

The truck was stolen at a golf course in Borrowdale in 2011 and it is believed that Macheka wanted to sell the parts.
Investigations carried out established that he also had an outstanding case in Norton in which he once stole a Nissan Sunny.

Cases of robbery have increased in Harare in recent weeks. On Thursday last week, three suspected South African-based armed robbers who were part of a gang that had been terrorising residents were shot and killed, while another one was injured by police in Harare in separate incidents.

One of the robbers was shot in Southerton while the other two were shot in Eastlea.
Two other suspected armed robbers have since been arrested and are assisting police with investigations.

Police have since identified one of the killed robbers as Tinashe Faku, brother to notorious armed robber Tendai Faku.
The Faku brothers were behind a spate of armed robbers in and around the city.

Police recently shot and killed two other armed robbers who had committed a spate of robberies in Harare and Bulawayo between May and June.
