The Zimbabwean trio of Tendai Tendex Madzviti, Munyaradzi Nyamarebvu and Fungai Nengara are set to leave the country early next month for Germany to launch their joint album with Jamaram. The trio collaborated with the German outfit on the album which comprises songs done in the main languages of the two countries, namely Shona, German and English.

The album is titled “Heavy Heavy”.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Tendex said he was overwhelmed at the privilege of touring Germany after another successful tour last year.

“This is a privilege and an opportunity of a lifetime. When we went there last year we learnt a lot from Jamaram and other German musicians and this helped us to become professional artistes.

“We had an opportunity to tour and perform around Germany in front of big crowds and people loved our music especially our traditional instrument which they were not familiar with,” he said.

He said they had rehearsed and prepared for the album launch.

“We can’t wait for the day. We are so excited because we are not only going for the album launch but we are also going to have shows on April 6 in Vienna and another one on April 10 in Muhldoph, then the album launch on April 18 in Munich,” he said.

The trio met Jamaram last year when they performed at the Harare International Festival of the Arts.

Those who attended Hifa will remember Jamaram very well as the Munich-based group that left many asking for more after a polished act when they replaced South Africa’s Freshlyground which failed to make it to the festival.

They put up a splendid show using popular dancehall chants such as Killer T’s “Popopo”, something which made them an instant hit among the Hifa crowds.
