Anglican gospel choir Trinity Singers Chikwaka have released a 10-track Anglican traditional hymn album which is a compilation of Anglican mantras with some of the tracks having been fused with Methodist hymns.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, organising secretary Richman Mawaza said the release comes after numerous people from

different churches approached the Trinity Singers Chikwaka to showcase their musical proficiency at various events.

“The tracks on the album are actually Anglican hymns as we realised that it is necessary to compile and put them on CDs so that people from around the country are able to listen to our music without necessarily having to hire us.

“We have realised that our fan base is quite wider than we thought as some Methodist church members have frequently requested for our services hence we have included two Methodist hymns which have been mixed with Anglican mantras.

“The two hymns are on the tracks ‘’Simba rezita raJesu” and “Jesu Akapfava” which are fourth and fifth on the album respectively” he said.

Mawaza said Trinity Singers have managed to establish a niche market as they are frequently booked to perform at various functions which include memorial services, funerals, weddings and birthday parties amongst other functions.

He added that the group is planning to repeat what is set to become and annual charity walk of over 65km in a bid to raise some money for some children at St Johns Chikwaka Orphanage.

“We are going to do a sponsored walk in November from Harare to Goromonzi in order to raise money for children at St Johns orphanage. Last year we made the same sponsored walk in November as well to try and help these parentless children and indeed it was a success as God Himself gave us the power and will to achieve our goal.

“This year is no different and we have been promised sponsorship by some well wishers who include Food World and Nyaradzo Funeral Services,” he said.

Some of the well known tracks included on the album are “Baba ndirikurasika”, “Iwe moyo”, “Mbasa” and ‘’Grasia” among others.
