Oscar Rusenga in Triangle
DAVID “Yogi’’ Mandigora will get his first insight of the task that awaits him as the new Triangle coach when his side host visiting Zambian Super League outfit Kabwe Warriors at Gibbo this afternoon.

Mandigora will be officially unveiled next week as a replacement for Kelvin Kaindu.

But the veteran former Dynamos coach has already started work at Triangle and will be happy to play against the Zambians who have so far met with mixed fortunes, losing 2-0 to DeMbare at Rufaro before beating CAPS United by an identical margin at the National Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

Today’s game will be the Zambians’ third match in five days against top Zimbabwean sides, but Triangle secretary-general Abraham Chinemaringa thinks his side will benefit more from the international friendly.

“Tomorrow’s (today) game is a very important game as we look to build a side that will continue from where we left last season. Kabwe played Dynamos and CAPS and now they are going to come down here and with the position we finished last season, it shows we already up there rated as one of the top clubs and we need to maintain that status,” Chinemaringa said.

Triangle will parade their new signings after a number of first team players dumped them during the off-season.

Pasca Manhanga, Praise Tonha, Tichaona Chipunza, Ashley Reyners, Jimmy Dzingai, Hillary Bakacheza, Jimmy Tigere and Cabby Kamhapa are some of the notable players who left in search of better pastures.

Triangle have since signed former Shabanie and FC Platinum striker Nelson Maziwisa, Tendai Huwa, Tapiwa Dhepistara, Rodwell Mhlanga, James Chivasa, Simba Makoni and the new arrivals are expected to line up against Kabwe in their first competitive match for Sugar Sugar Boys.

Despite the player exodus at Triangle, the Lowveld side still boast experience in their squad as they retained some of the senior players in the mould of Tawanda Muyendi who finished as the team’s second top goal scorer despite joining them midway into the season.
