It seems urban grooves musician Trevor Dongo has failed to resist the pressure that has come with the introduction of fast moving Zim dancehall genre and has featured on the “Silent killer” riddim launched over the weekend at Holiday Inn.

Trevor D as he is affectionately known in the music circles has featured on the silent killer riddim together with other 20 Zim dancehall artistes including Guspy Warrior, Freeman, Killer T, Sweetness,

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Trevor D said it is because of the love of conscious and reggae music that he decided to feature on the riddim.

“I grew up listening to conscious and reggae music so basically I love the genre. When Tendai Musekiwa approached me asking me if I could feature on his riddim, I listened to the riddim and came up with a song titled ‘Phone’,” he said.

Meanwhile, Musekiwa aka Mr Silent Killer said his passion to support local music had led him to come up with the riddim that is meant to give all upcoming dancehall artistes a chance to showcase their talent. “I have discovered that there is talent among the youths but they are lacking support and resources so I am here to give that support and to ensure that they have resources so that Zimdancehall will be able to stand the test of time,” he said.

Some of the musicians who were present at the launch hailed Musekiwa for coming up with the initiative saying it will go a long way in supporting them as they have been lacking adequate resources.

“We would like to thank Musekiwa for the support he has given us, we have been able to ride and record on his riddim free of charge. We have been facing a mammoth task when it comes to recording because f lack of finances,” said Crystal.

Musekiwa said he is working on a recording studio for all Zim dancehall artistes who will be willing to work with him.
