MUSICA Peace award-winning gospel musician Reverend Toggy Chivaviro will add another colourful feather to his music cap when he launches his top-selling album, “Ebenezer”, at the Anglican Cathedral Hall next to Parliament House in Harare tonight.

This is Rev Chivaviro’s 10th album after the likes of “Peace, Hope and Love”, (1999), “Power” (2000), “The Best Of” (Compilation) (2006), “The Return” (2009). And “Ishe Taungana (Hymnal Worship Vol 4)” (2013).

Rev Chivaviro’s strength is in the genre of hymns and his performance at the launch is expected to be complemented by some of the cream of Zimbabwean gospel musicians like Pastor Charles, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Noel Zembe, Pastor Lawrence Haisa, Rumbi Zvirikuzhe, Kudzi Nyakudya, Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi and Apostle Juliet Chivaviro.

Some of these artistes also featured on the album, making it an all-star offering.

Rev Chivaviro is expected to prove why apart from the Musica Peace award, he also bagged another award alongside Alick Macheso and Ephat Mujuru for the song “Runyararo” off the album “Komborerai Africa”.

One of his prominent awards came in 2010 when he became the first Zimbabwean musician to be mentioned for the SABC Crown Gospel Awards in the Best of Africa Category for the song “Mumwe Ariko Kumusoro”.

“The launch is one way of thanking God for the wonders that He is working in people’s lives and it being his 10th album, Reverend Chivaviro is thanking God for the talent of singing he bestowed upon him and he is using it to preach the word,” explained Pastor Muhomba, Rev Chivaviro’s Zimbabwean spokesperson.

“Ebenezer” was first recorded at Artisan Studios in Harare before it was taken to South Africa for mixing and mastering at Cut ‘’n’’ Edit Studios based in Johannesburg.

So far, the album has sold close to 5 000 copies since its release last year.
