TONGOONA Charamba maintained his status as one of the best local professional golfers as he is currently leading the Zambezi Tour Order of Merit.
Charamba has featured in all eight Zambezi Tour events staged this year and has US$8 230 in earnings so far, having missed the pickings only once.

Charamba has got prize money in the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open, Tour Players Championship, Pre-Open Classic, Open Classic, Hwange Open, Econet Pro Challenge I and Econet Pro Challenge II tournaments, missing out on the money in just the Econet Pro Challenge III in August.

Ignatius Mketekete is second on the Order of Merit with US$6 810 having picked up some prize money in seven tournaments this year while Dale Howie is third with just over US$4 000 in earnings.

Madalitso Muthiya, a Zambian golfer who has since made Zimbabwe his second home, is on fourth after pocketing US$3 122 in the events he took place in.

Farayi Chitengwa, who won the Open Clasic, is fifth as Tranos Muradzikwa, Robson Saurombe and South Africa’s Nethunzwi Musiwalo, who won the Hwange Open earlier this month, occupy the last three positions to complete the top eight.

Brian Gondo, who was runner up at the Hwange Open, has a different season and is sitting on ninth place while Day Muyambo is placed 10th.

According to the Zambezi Tour money list released on Tuesday a total 59 professionals have featured on the tour  this year with 37 of them having earned prize money in at least one tournament.

The Order of Merit comes out ahead of the Harare Open tournament to be staged on November 6-8.
