United States-born Zimbabwean Tinashe Kachingwe might be the next big R&B singer on the international scene.  Her latest single “2 On” that features equally talented rapper ScHoolBoy Q is receiving considerable spins on most satellite television music channels —MTV, Trace and locally on Star FM radio.
The hit has an equally stunning video that sees the musician showcasing her brilliance in vocals, fashion and on the dance floor.

This is a promising one for the youthful musician who was named amongst the top 14 to look out for by Trace on New Year’s Eve.

She made the list alongside the likes of Pharell Williams, Future, and Nigeria’s D’banj.

Many wondered who the girl with the Shona name was and why there was little known about her locally.

The 21-year-old is a singer/songwriter and her full name is Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe.

She was born in Kentucky, technically making her an American citizen but from a Zimbabwean father.

Unlike a certain Hollywood star, the budding star does not disown her Zimbabwean roots.

She is on record saying the Shona heritage plays a role in her artistic creativity.

“My dad’s family is from Zimbabwe, and it’s a very musical culture. From my earliest memories, music was all around me. It was part of my DNA, and I just loved everything about it,” she wrote on her official Facebook page.

She happens to be no new comer to show biz as she has had a stint in acting through films like 2000’s Cora Unashamed, The Polar Express with Tom Hanks and recurring roles in popular sitcom “Two and a half men”.

Tinashe’s underdog days in Hollywood are over as is now slowly becoming a household name. She is said to have hinted that her upcoming album “Aquarius” will features rappers; Future, Travis Scott, and A$AP Rocky.

Her success on the international arena is likely to give youthful local musicians an ego boost.
