Preparations for this year’s Zimbabwe Talent Hunt programme have begun with organisers calling aspirants to register for auditions. This year’s categories include the ZimTalentVoice (Singing), ZimTalentAct (Acting), ZimTalentDance (Dancing), ZimTalentFace (Beauty), ZimTalentPoem (Poetry), ZimTalentMixtape (DJs) and ZimTalentCreative.

The talent search competition aims to discover the country’s talents in various categories of performing arts, creative arts, sports and business.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, founder of the show, Julius Muzuva said they have finished the first category and the winners are set to release their singles collection next month.

“So far only the ZiTH voice category competitions were held, with 53 registrants for the auditions. We are working with Russell “Russo” Chiradza who has assisted our six finalists with recording under his stable, ThisIs Russo Records. He mentored them and I am happy all went according to plan,” he said.

The finalists are Nicholas Kurangwa, Rugare Natalie, Eunice Nomagugu Ncube, Avry Ngoni Chilwa, Fungai Mombeshora and Liberty Leefree Madanire. Kurangwa has roped in Shinsoman on his single.

The singles were launched on an international radio station – Jamrockradio.com – with live interviews of the winners and the producers hosted by UK-based DJ King Alfred.

Muzuva who is affectionately known as Juls by his fans said the singles are already on the market.

“They have already started selling their music and on February 13 we are having a singles live recording at Sphinx (Oasis Hotel) where the winners will perform. The show will also feature selected talents from our talent directory,” he said.

He said they want to create an international talent directory for and of Zimbabweans.

“The registrants are archived in the talent directory whereby producers, film-makers, promoters and other registered advertisers will scout for talent. The talented registrants themselves will also be able to apply for advertised positions for shortlisting and have direct contact with the advertiser through a messaging system on the website,” he said.

Muzuva said he is planning to include Plot Mhako of the Jibilika fame as a mentor in the dancing catergory.

“Registrants are exposed to and access help and guidance from a pool of our volunteering mentors. We had Russo on the music scene and are now working on including Plot Mhako whom we believe has expertise in the dancing catergory,” he said
