All roads lead to the Harare International Conference Centre as the Zimbabwe Music Awards tonight make a return after taking a seven-year break.
The awards organisers have promised nothing short of glitz and glamour in the ceremony they said will be screened live on ZBC TV at 8.30pm.
“The event is a locked down show as we close our doors at 8.30 pm. We are going to be screening live and would not want to disrupt the proceedings with unnecessary movements. We expect to finish by 10.30pm,” said Farai Chapotera, Zima’s public relations executive.

Popular personalities Tich Mataz, Napster, Ruveneko Parirenyatwa and Deejay Moax will be hosting the awards.
Sixteen guest presenters, among them socialite Makosi Musambasi, model Malaika Mushandu, Shingi Mau Mau, Miss Red and Tariro from Star FM among others will also take part in the ceremony.

In total 120 artistes from around the country have made it on the nomination list that will see 25 awards being taken away
“We have artistes that are from Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Gweru, and Kwekwe among other areas who are part of the nominees. We did our best to ensure that there was a fair representation of artistes in terms of categories also,” said Chapotera.

She added that the entire organising team is working hard in putting together a first class event in spite of the limited resources that were available.
“This year we did not have many sponsors as many did not have confidence in the awards. We are confident however that upon seeing what we have put together, the situation will change in the future,” she said.

Chapondera said a red carpet had been availed for the nominees, celebrities and other A’listers that were going to attend the event.
“The nominees will be all dressed up with some of them wearing local designs. They will arrive at the venue in limousines courtesy of one of our sponsors, Sam’s Limos.

They will walk the red carpet and pose for pictures in front of our banners before being interviewed by journalists,” she said.
The partners that came through for the Zima include Zimpapers, Delta Beverages, ZiFM Stereo, Signature Cosmetics, Mimosa and ZBC among others.

Meanwhile, tickets are still available at various selling points including the venue. A number of performers that include Mokoomba, Afrika Revenge, Jah Prayzah and Djembe Monks will take to the stage during the ceremony. Below is the list of nominees.
