He might be a sculptor, but renowned visual artist Dominic Benhura is also passionate about music. Benhura’s other art side will come to the fore during the album launch for his nephew and fellow sculptor, Terrence Benhura, to be held at Piccobello Restaurant in Highlands today.

The internationally-acclaimed visual artist is one of the sponsors of the album launch. But there will be plenty of surprises at the launch since Terrence’s album “Murombo Munhu” also features Sierra Leonean singer Alimamy Karbgo and it is expected that the foreign singer will be part of the event.

Terrence could not be drawn into confirming whether Karbgo was going to make it or not for the event, choosing however to only reveal that there were a lot of surprises at the launch.

“The launch is expected to attract the who-is-who in the Zimbabwean arts, culture, political and business fraternity.

“And also because of uncle Dominic’s wide influence and international network, coupled with my own links with artistes from Kenya and other countries, the launch is bound to be more exciting than expected,” he said. Terrence, is son to Dominic Studios sculptor Takesure Benhura and it is clear that art runs in their family. Terrence started off as a sculptor before turning to music.

The youthful artiste first stormed the music scene with his debut offering titled “Zvanaka” which was the first fruit of his love for music that he combines with visual arts.

He is also a gifted arts tutor having taught sculpture at Newlands Clinic Dominic Foundation.

“Uncle Dominic has assisted me with the purchase of musical instruments and today I lead my music group with which I will be launching this new album,” he said.
