TelOne, Zimbabwe`s fixed phone operator and Internet Access Provider via its renowned Centre for Learning, recently certified a total of 47 graduates who become fully fledged telecommunications technicians in different specialities. Speaking during the graduation, TelOne managing director Mrs Chipo Mtasa said the company was proud that for many years now it had continued to train students providing the industry including all the mobile network operators with their own certified engineers.
“The TelOne Centre for learning currently exists to provide the required competencies to meet the current and future needs of TelOne primarily and the ICT sector in general. The ICT sector remains one of the fastest growing and dynamic sectors.

“We are therefore proud to be the cornerstone of this sector in terms of the provision of the requisite competencies that drive this growth, this dispensation arguers well for the graduates as opportunities for employment remain very bright,” said Mrs Mtasa.
The students were undertaking various diploma studies under three distinct courses, namely the transmission department with 28 students, access network 15 students and switch with four students

TelOne prides itself in having trained various students for different mobile network operators. The TelOne boss also announced that TelOne Centre for Learning will be offering its first Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Telecommunications Engineering in partnership with NUST next year.

Mrs Mtasa disclosed that TelOne is among the only two SADC-certified training institutions in the region.
