A teen commercial sex worker ran amok and assaulted her regular client all over the body before she stabbed him with a knife on the neck, after spotting him walking with rival suitors.

The 17-year-old girl was yesterday brought before Mvuma magistrate Mr Tayengwa Chibanda facing an attempted murder charge.

She pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to Tuesday for sentencing. The victim, Mr Rufaro Sithole (33), was reportedly battling for his life in hospital.

For the State, Mr Michael Kazomba told the court that on 1 September Mr Sithole went to the girl’s house in Mvuma and found her in her room while drunk.

She started accusing Mr Sithole of cheating on her after she saw him walking around Mvuma town with other women. She demanded that Mr Sithole leaves the house, but immediately started attacking him, the court heard.

The girl drew a knife and stabbed Mr Sithole on the neck, sustaining a gush. Mr Sithole was rescued by neighbours who rushed to the scene following his screams for help.

He was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital and was later transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare where he is still admitted.
