PATRICK Pfumbe, the Tanganda Tea 21-km Half Marathon 10km juniors defending champion, is hopeful of winning the title for the third time in Mutare, Manicaland tomorrow. The 16-year-old Chipadze High School Form Three student will be part of more than hundred athletes who will battle for the $15 000 purse event.

“I have been working hard and I believe I will do well again this time around. I have been preparing for two events – the Tanganda half marathon and the Victoria Falls race.

“I am very confident after I won the last event as well the Police Commissioner’s Road Race recently and I have a feeling that I will do well again this time again,” said Pfumbe.

The competition is one of the major highlights on the domestic athletics calendar and attracts top athletes like women 21 km defending champion Rutendo Nyahora and Kelvin Pangiso.

The wheelchair category will have Elford Moyo and Thandiwe Ndlovu as the favourites.
