My name is Tafadzwa Madamombe. I am a footballer, and with the right chances who knows how big I could be? Maybe I will join the other greats like Pele, Maradona and even the brilliant young players like Lionel Messi as one of the names that define football.I was born in Bulawayo and that is the city that I call home.

I started playing soccer in Grade One, up until secondary school where I started being recognised and eventually was called for trials in the United Kingdom by Concept 4 Soccer and FootballCV.com.

I failed to take up those chances because I was denied a visa. But after that door closed another one opened for me.

I only pray that this time I will be able to take advantage of it.

I started playing football when I was in grade one and throughout my high school education at Christian Brothers College.

I have also been with Trap Star Academy here in the city.

Right now I am training with Bantu Rovers. Recently I managed to get a partly sponsored place at Wiley College in the USA. There I am to be honing my football skills as well as acquiring a degree in business studies, which is part of the package.

I should be on my way there right now, to start school this coming week, but there is a big challenge. My parents have not been able to raise the money to take care of the expenses.

I need to cover $5000 which is the balance of the tuition that is not covered by the 75 percent sponsorship. I also need money for my plane fares to the college which is in Texas.

“I will also be studying for a business degree with the university as part of the scholarship package,” said Madamombe.

I am confident that if I get an opportunity to travel abroad I will not only fulfil my childhood dream of playing for the senior national team, but I will put Zimbabwe on the football map.

I am appealing to any well wishers and corporate organisations to assist me in achieving my dream by sponsoring me with the remaining 25 percent tuition fees money and an air ticket.

My family fully supports my endeavours and it is just unfortunate that they are not in a position to make this dream come true for me.
