Swiss Jet Aviation Development Trust will tomorrow hold their annual Harare Preschools Air Day at Komani Private Air Base in Marlborough.

Operations director of the organisation, Honour Moyo, said everything is on course for the event that is expected to host at least 11 schools.

“I can safely say that everything is in place for the event to run smoothly.

“We are expecting about 500 students from 11 schools who have already confirmed their participation on the day,” said Moyo.

Moyo said the annual event is meant to raise aviation awareness in children at a tender age.

“They say, ‘Catch them young’ and as an organisation we believe in grooming and educating children about aviation at that early stage.

“They will grow up having more interest in aviation thus as a country we will have many people choosing aviation field as a career.

“A number of activities are lined up for the day and some of them include static displays, talk on aviation and entertainment.

“There will be static aircraft exhibition where at least five helicopters will be on display and the children will have the opportunity to get inside, take pictures although they will not be flown.

“A team of aviators that includes pilots, engineers and air hostesses will be present to teach them about aviation and answer their questions pertaining this field.”

For entertainment, there will be jumping castles, bucking bull, water slides, face painting, clowns among other activities.

The children will have their special lunch at Hotel Almond and Cresta Oasis Hotel.

Some of the participating schools include Hanna Montana, Chawira’s Pre-school, Little Lamps Day Care, The Hill, Play House Pre-school and LA City Angels Pre-school.

Two primary schools, Kaguvi Primary from Chegutu and Fredrick Mabamba from Chitungwiza will also be attending the air day.

Swiss Jet Aviation is a duly registered Zimbabwean trust, established in 2009 and focuses on the development of aviation in Zimbabwe.

It is authorised by the Ministry of Education, Sports, Arts and Culture to provide aviation awareness to schools.

The organisation has held several events for school children and is on course to introducing public events that are likely to boost domestic and foreign tourism.
