THREE Zanu-PF chairpersons recently suspended for inciting insolence are now awaiting their fate after appearing before a sub-committee set up to investigate the allegations levelled against them by national political commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere. Cdes Joel Biggie Matiza (Mashonaland East), Kizito Chivamba (Midlands) and Ezra Chadzamira (Masvingo) were given a chance to defend themselves before a committee chaired by the zanu-PF secretary for security Cde Kembo Mohadi last week.

Other members of the sub-committee are Youth Secretary Chairperson Cde Pupurai Togarepi and Women’s League deputy secretary Cde Sandi Moyo. Although all three suspended chairpersons refused to comment on the matter, Cde Togarepi confirmed that they had appeared before the sub-committee.

“Yes, I can confirm that the chairpersons appeared before the committee but I cannot comment further than that. “You need to speak to Cde Mohadi who is the chairperson of the sub-committee,” said Cde Togarepi.

Sources said the decision to summon the three chairpersons for a hearing was in line with a recent Zanu-PF Politburo decision that no person would be suspended without being afforded a proper hearing. First to appear before the committee was Cde Matiza.

He was facing allegations of harassing party women in Mashonaland East who wanted to attend the Women’s League solidarity rally for President Mugabe’s reign as the AU chairperson. He was followed by Cdes Chivamba and Chadzamira who face similar charges.

The submissions of the three chairpersons are expected to be handed over to the NDC, which is expected to table the findings at the next Politburo meeting. The three chairpersons were suspended a fortnight ago by national political commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere at a Matabeleland North provincial coordinating committee meeting.
