It will be a clash of legends at The Platinum (formerly Pick and Save) in Mutare tomorrow night as musicians Alick Macheso and Nicholas Zakaria share stage.

In 2012 the two shared stage at a gala held in Gutu and there was an overwhelming response prompting them to promise a duet for their fans.

Madzibaba as Zakaria is fondly known, released his 26th album “Rumbidzo” that has been received well in the local market.

The album has six tracks namely “Mwari Anogona”, “Wakakodzera”, “Rudo Runokosha”, “Pane Nyaya” “Mbiri Ndeya Mwari”, and a Chewa song “Pamutanda”.

He will be performing the songs for the first time at the venue that has revived entertainment in Mutare after the closure of Chapter 1.

The musician promised a great show saying people should come and witness the rare joint show.

“We last performed together about five years ago and this year we decided to come together for this show,” he said.

On the other hand Macheso through his manager William Tsandukwa promised a good show.

“He is Macheso’s mentor and I tell you this is one of the shows people would not want to miss,” he said.

He said they have planned to tour the country together.

“We will definitely perform in different parts of the country together,” said Tsandukwa.

Show promoter Esau Mupfumi said the history of sungura cannot be told without mentioning the two sungura icons.

“They are very important in the history of sungura so we decided to bring them together for a show here in Mutare,” he said.

Tonight the venue will also host two dancehall musicians Winky D and Kinna.

The two musicians are expected to draw crowds as local Colleges and Universities in the Eastern capital have resumed their academic calendar.
