Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu will tomorrow night perform at Mushandirapamwe Hotel in Highfield in a “Black and White” party show that is meant to honour his late father.
Historically the venue is important to the Chimbetu family as it hosted Marxist Brothers in their early days and became a “homeground”  for dendera shows over the years.

The musician’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma said Simon used to wear a white shirt, black trousers and a black waist coat at most of his shows hence the concept of tomorrow’s honorary show.

“If you go at Mushandirapamwe today most of Simon’s pictures there show him in that attire so we have just decided to have a show in honour of the late great dendera maestro,” he said.

He added that the party will have many activities and some ladies will get free entrance.
“It is not that we favour ladies but when we do another event we will make sure men will also get the same favour,” he said.

Nyamungoma said Sulu will be sampling some of songs from the upcoming album.
“Everything is now in place and we are just working to perfect the album so that people can enjoy,” he said.

Like his previous projects it will be marketed and distributed by Diamond Studios.
Sulu will feature Thomas Mapfumo on the album on a song called “Mukanya,” that is gaining popularity at his shows.

“Mapfumo is one of the artistes that lifted the Zimbabwean flag high through music and it is good for us to have a collaboration with him,” said Nyamungoma.
