Suicide bombing hits NATO convoy

KABUL. – A number of NATO-led coalition forces and Afghan civilians were wounded after a suicide car bombing struck a NATO convoy in Bagram, eastern Afghanistan, yesterday, the coalition forces confirmed. The incident occurred at around midday near the village of Qaleh-ye Musa Bala, Bagram, the forces said in a statement.

Bagram Airfield is located in eastern Parwan province, some 50 km north of Kabul and it has been serving as the main US and NATO military base within the past 16 years. “The wounded service members were taken to the Bagram Airfield hospital for treatment. None of the injuries are considered life threatening,” the statement reads.

The Afghan civilians were evacuated to a local hospital and their condition is unknown at this time, it noted.

Taliban insurgents have claimed responsibility for it. – Xinhua.
