We believe that through His grace, we can positively contribute towards spreading a Christ-like love among all Zimbabweans, irrespective of their church affiliation, and that those who have not yet received Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour will come to know Him when they are ministered to.
Let us all remember that the Lord said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)
When we are in this state, we need to have that divine appointment with the Lord. Calling each other names will only drive us away from His selfless love.
Then there are some who worry so much about false teachers and prophets. If we stayed in the word — “Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:8) — with a Spirit of discernment, those false prophets and teachers would only be deceiving the gullible.
The Lord, in Matthew 16:18 also says, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it”. He is a Lord who is faithful to His word, meaning that false prophets and false teachers will not prevail over the church that He himself built.
Modern technology: tele-evangelists; the Internet; social media and mass reproduction of sermons and other teachings though important, have reduced many Christians to spoon-fed babies.
This reduces our bible reading when we are supposed to glean at scriptures like the Berean believers in Acts 17:11 did: “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
We hope that the calendar of events that various churches provide will continue to be divine appointments (meetings arranged by God) for people seeking His face in the various situations they encounter.
Below are some biblical divine appointments that transformed the people concerned then, and continue to be important: “One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer — at three in the afternoon.
Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.”
“Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
“Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk”. (Acts 3:1-8, NIV)
Then there is the divine appointment between the Lord Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well: “Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into town to buy food.) (John 4:4-8, NIV)
