THE Sports and Recreation Commission have expressed disappointment over the postponement of the Zimbabwe Handball Federation elections that were pencilled in for last month.

The elections were scheduled to be held during their general meeting in Kariba on March 31 only to be postponed on the day. Some of the reasons that were given for the postponement were that the treasurer had not presented the financial report and four provinces that were supposed to vote failed to attend the meeting.

Speaking to The Herald yesterday, ZHF president, Amon Madzvamuse claimed that they had presented their case to the SRC and were waiting for response from the commission on the way forward.

“So far we are waiting to hear from SRC and we are still compiling the irregularities that we noted as soon as we get everything with us and approved then we go ahead,” said Madzvamuse.

However, SRC director sport development, Joseph Muchechetere said they have not yet received an official report on what transpired on the day of the elections and the supreme sports body are not amused by the way ZHF are conducting their business.

“They have not yet given us the report, we are still waiting for the report and we are curious to know what happened. We just heard unofficially that they could not go ahead with the elections but we are very serious about that.

“As you might be aware that for quite some time handball have been running without a substantive committee since Agrippa Sora. They had an interim committee then Madzvamuse but we worked with them to ensure that they correct their constitution, rules and regulations and set up provincial structures and provincial constitutions. We helped them to put in place all those things and we agreed with them to have elections before the end of March. So we are not happy about that. “ he said.
