THE Zifa Northern Region Division One leadership yesterday unveiled a sponsorship deal for their league with a Japanese company where they will get three cars and playing kits this season. The deal will see the Northern Region being partnered by World Navi, a company involved in selling Japanese second-hand cars, and the partnership will see the firm supporting their league for one season with an option for renewal.

Northern Region chairman, Willard Manyengavana, said this was a landmark moment.

“I am happy to witness this historic occasion as we did not have a partner for several years,” said Manyengavana. “The sponsorship is a dream come true and a significant one. This will work as motivation to our players.

“We are hopeful this will boost the confidence and faith of other potential sponsors during the season and in the future. We hope to see an improved performance from the players due to the increased incentives.”

World Navi managing director Yoshifumi Sawada said he was hopeful their partnership will last for a long time.

“We have been to 23 countries and Zimbabwe becomes the 24th one in Africa, so I am happy with the development and I hope this relationship will last forever,” said Sawada.

“At the moment we have a one-year agreement where we are giving a car to the Soccer Star of the Year and another two to lucky supporters. I believe there is great talent here and the opportunity will give the players room to showcase their talent.”
