Musician-cum-dancer Franco “Slomo” Dhaka will perform at the dance fiesta scheduled for May 26 at the City Sports Bar.

Slomo as he is popularly known will share the stage with 10 dance groups that will be battling for supremacy.

Among the dance groups are Manjenje, Pala Fala, Chimora, Fearless, Starlight, Beverly Sibanda and Zoey.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment Slomo promised fireworks saying the dancers must expect a real threat.

“I am gifted both in singing and dancing so people must expect a full package and to all the dancers they must expect real competition from me,” he said.

He also added that he has a number of new dance routines which are still to be named.

“I have a lot of new dances that I am going to showcase and the dances are not yet named, so I will also leave the fans to judge some of the dance routines and give them titles if they can,” he said.

Slomo, who released his latest album early this year, said he is going to take the opportunity to market his new album by playing new tracks.

“I am going to perform most songs from my latest album. Songs such as ‘Nherera,’ ‘Manuere’, ‘Lona’ and ‘Zvipo Zvedu’ among others will be on the playlist.

“I am still marketing the album during live performances and these songs are proving to be people’s favourite,” he said.

Slomo, a former member of Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo and Suluman Chimbetu’s Orchestra Dendera Kings, joined hands with former colleagues at Orchestra Mberikwazvo Obert Gomba, Noel Nyazanda and Jonas Kasamba in a move that received mixed feelings.

Calling themselves “The Rebels”, the group failed to stand the test of the time and the four-pronged co-leadership ended leaving Slomo with no option but to assume leadership of the band Extra Kwazvose.
