Slice group members

It was meant to be a big reunion and it did live up to that billing when Slice International group members performed together for the first time in 10 years.

Comprising Tinos “Slicey T” Viriri, Allan “Flevouh” Mpanduki, Gaylord “Junior D” Gwatidzo and Collin “Sir Sondy” Sondayi, the group proved they still have what it takes to thrill fans.

The group serenaded music lovers who packed Dandaro Inn in an amazing set that was made up of new and old songs.

Judging from the performance it appears the group had rehearsed well as they were on point from vocals to choreography.

And it was a memorable show for Slicey T, who also celebrated his birthday at the gig. You could see that the group were enjoying themselves from start to finish especially that they came on stage after other stand-out performances by Nox and Roki, who warmed up the stage.

“It was a great show with high-energy performances, thanks to the fans who came in their numbers to enjoy the music. I was surprised that no one poured water on me to celebrate my birthday. As Slice our last performance was with Alick Macheso some 10 years back,” Slicey T said.

However, there were some hiccups during Soul Jah Love’s set after the speakers blew up.

He struggled with the microphone and for some reason the sound engineer could not get the sound right.

This angered Soul Jah Love who left the stage in a huff.

Although some people blamed Soul Jah Love for seemingly disregarding his fans, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, who was the host of the show, came to his defence.

“It is understandable because it was not his fault. The speakers malfunctioned and he didn’t want to struggle with the sound during his set.

“We had to bring in new speakers to ensure that the show went on,” Chipaz said.
