six Zimbabwean gospel musicians are expected to travel to South Africa today where they will serenade gospel lovers during a mega annual conference to be held at Germiston City, Johannesburg.

Courtesy of Assemblies of Pentecostal Methodists, the conference titled “Sons and Daughters of Fire Mega Annual Conference” will run till August 16.

Running under the theme “Unlimited Grace”, the gathering is expected to draw around 1 000 delegates.

Zimbabwe’s musicians to perform are Trymore Bande, Gift Mahlupeka, Gamu Magadzire, Danny Pfawai, Bethany Pasinawako-Ngolomi and Pastor P. Muhomba.

Pastors Ezekiel Matope of AFM, Dr Wages and Dorothy Anifasi from Botswana will grace the event as guest speakers together with Reverend Tapera Togarepi Chivaviro.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Bande could not hide his joy.

“I feel honoured to be part of this entourage as it motivates me to do better musically and I promise to deliver when we get there.

“It also shows that Zimbabwe gospel music is set for greater heights judging from the demand beyond our borders,” he said

Rev Chivaviro said the conference, which is in its second edition, takes place every year in South Africa, where their church is headquartered.

“The main purpose of this conference is to gather people who still believe in the gospel of salvation and righteousness as a foundation to power and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“It also brings people from as far as the UK, Zimbabwe, Botswana, RSA and Mozambique mainly from our ministry and visitors from other churches to worship under one roof,” said Rev Chivaviro.

Rev Chivaviro said besides musicians from Zimbabwe, the event will see UK- based Mai Tongogara performing with Botswana Pastor Leeroy and the APM Gauteng Worship Team.

After the conference, the church will head home for another show called “Vana Vemoto Annual Prayer Retreat Conference” in Gokwe from October 8-11.
