What a weekend!! Well, many were glued to the national television for the Miss World Zimbabwe 2015 that was screened live from Mermaid Pools, Shamva under the theme ‘Probity’.

For a start, we thank ZBC TV for a job well done this time just like the cliché, ‘I am proud to be a Zimbabwean’; you proved that given a chance, well resourced you can do wonders.

There was good quality and sound.

This time there were no major camera shakes as those witnessed at the NAMA awards.

However, at the end of the show they acted stuck showing the banner for the pageant while we could hear the voices of people.

We wanted to see some action by the way.

I think their screening somehow was not scripted, I must say because when the models were walking on ramp, at first they were busy screening the legs.

Yes, showing legs then up to the face, but in this era, camera techniques are a must.

I watched the whole segment which lasted about five hours and again ‘Hail Queen Marry’ for a job well done.

It was a well organised show, and a colourful ceremony attended by Zimbabweans who now know how to dress for the occasion.

The directors of ceremonies Emmanuel Manyika and Tich Mawoni did not click. Apart from their lame jokes, the two did not seem to have rehearsed together.

They were asking each other on stage, who to bring next to perform and saying to the guest of honour, “Here is the microphone, for you.” Seriously?

We urge events organisers to look at the new crop of young PR people who know how to do these things. Please keep your dinosaurs for staid corporate events and do not inflict them on the public at unsuitable functions.

We are now in the period of HIFA and this year is all about ‘Articulating’ and we seriously wish ZBC TV and HIFA had engaged each other so that the whole nation would also get to see the annual arts fiesta.

Meanwhile, on DStv the competition is becoming tougher at the Big Brother Mzansi 2015. It is becoming tougher and tougher with Bongi and Khali leaving the house with five competitive pairs.

The game is also tending to become more solid and power will be a matter of managing and protecting their effects amongst them.

All pairs have been great competitors and always accepted the unaccepted and managed it effectively.

From the day they came into the house, the Royals have planned and prepared to deal with whatever challenges that came their way and always came second. Victors expect to win regardless of what happens on the battle field and there are pairs in the house who do things that no one thought possible and by doing so, it gave them a clear advantage of what the game was all about. Remaining housemate’s emotional aspects will determine their success or failure as Ntombi had already decided to distance herself from others.

All of them have become cringy and last night we even saw Mbali shouting at Chelsea for not checking the timer and she made all sorts of excuses.

Till next week, happy viewing. . .
