Show shut down gig roars to life

All is set for the Harare Agricultural Show Shut-down Gig to be held at Harare Civic Centre Grounds (Guard Alert Training Ground) tomorrow.
Biggie Chinoperekwei of Devine Assignments who are the organisers of the show said they have done enough groundwork for the show.

“Security will be available and I think we have done our best in preparing the for a dancehall show,” said Chinoperekwei.

Some of the names to feature on stage are Soul Jah Love, Kinnah, Tocky Vibez, Lady Squanda, Killer T, Guspy Warrior, King Shaddy, Ricky Fire, Jay Cee, Lipsy, Crystal, Qonfused as well as entertainment crews Chill Spot and Judgement Yard, Silverstone, Mighty Duks.

There will also be a clash contest for “clarks” dancers.

A lot is expected at the show as top names are billed to perform.Soul Jah Love is on top of the game with most of his songs topping the dancehall chats.

Tocky Vibez is rising with most of his hits becoming popular in most public places.

Bad girl Lady Squanda will also feature at the show for the first time after attracting controversy when she knocked down fellow dancehall musician Lipsy with a an empty bottle.

Soul Jah Love said he had a surprise act for his fans.

“We have done our homework and we want to make this show memorable. We want show-goers to remember this year’s shutdown gig as a historic event. We have prepared a surprise act for our fans and word about the new act will spread through ghettos the following morning,” he said.

Lady Squanda said she would put controversy behind and do serious business on stage.

“A lot of things happen in our dancehall industry because of the way we relate as artists but we want to assure our fans that we will put personal differences aside and deliver an act that shows unity. We want to show people that beyond the drama and contorversy in dancehall, we are serious artistes,” she said.

Chinoperekwei said they have chose the venue because of its proximity to the show grounds.

“We chose Harare Civic Centre Grounds because of the venue’s proximity to the showgrounds and we are certain that this outdoor event would be a memorable event.

“We have engaged various security organisations to make sure the situation does not get out of control because we are anticipating huge numbers at the show.”

The closing day of the Harare Agricultural Show has always been eventful and the dancehall show is likely to be among the best shut-down shows of the show and a large crowd of revellers is expected.
