SHELTER Zimbabwe will invest close to $19 million in its latest residential project, Chizhanje Phase One on the Harare-Ruwa boundary. Speaking in an interview with The Herald Property Guide, Shelter Zimbabwe general manager Francis Mugandani, said the Chizhanje development will have 1 500 residential units over and above another 300 institutional stands.

“Phase one will be comprised of 800 high-to-medium density residential stands in the proposed Chizhanje Project located between Mabvuku and Zimre Park.”

Mr Mugandani said work at the project started a month ago and to date 40 percent of the road works has been done while compaction and surfacing of the roads will be complete by next year.

“By this time next year, all civil works will be complete and I am talking about roads, water and sewer.” said Mr Mugandani.

Mr Mugandani said sales for the stands started three months ago although uptake was still slow as approximately 50 had been bought.

He added that the stands will be sold to those who are on the City of Harare waiting list.

“We are, however, on the market to advertise the stands to speed up the uptake of the stands,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shelter Zimbabwe is constructing a biological waste water treatment plant at its Adelaide residential stands development project.

The plant, which will cost $500 000, is already 70 percent complete and will be commissioned in the next three months.

The plant, which has since received EMA approvals, will be able to recycle waste water that can then be used for projects such as fish farming and gardening.
