LEAGUE returnees Seven Flames assistant coach Gift Muzire says they will be out to fight relegation and avoid another exit from the ZIFA Northern Region Division One soccer league this season.

The army side made their debut appearance in the First Division last year and were relegated after they finished among the six bottom teams.

They finished on position 15 with 37 points from 34 matches.

Seven Flames were invited to compete in the league after some teams failed to meet the requirements and they blamed their performance on the poor preparations since they were preparing to play in Division Two.

However, lady luck was on their side again this year after they were invited again to compete in the league on the same conditions.

And, this year, the difference is that they will be making their second appearance and maybe with a little bit of experience gained from last year it will be a different season for them. Muzire said they are relying on the experience of their senior players that were part of the team last year.

“We are trying to fight relegation and then start to talk of other things in the second half.

“As for our preparations they went well and we are trying to change our playing style.

“We have experienced players so we are expecting that this season we will do well.

“However, some of the players left after relegation but we managed to retain the majority of them, that’s why we are saying we have some experience within the team,” said Muzire.
