Government has begun servicing land availed to zanu-PF youths by President Mugabe last month and beneficiaries will settle by December. This comes as a site map for Manyame residential stands was availed last Friday.

Officials have pledged to fast forward the pegging process.

Addressing thousands of party supporters at the groundbreaking ceremony for residential stands in Manyame, Zanu-PF Youth League deputy secretary Cde Kudzanai Chipanga confirmed the development.

“Youths across the country made their own petitions to the President and he greatly considered our plea by availing over 1 000 hectares of land and I am glad to announce that by tomorrow (Saturday) graders and bulldozers will be at work beginning all necessary land preparations,” he said.

“As Amai Mugabe has been calling for women empowerment across the country, girls will be owning their own stands in this project and land development will be done as people are already settled on their land.”

Cde Chipanga said more land was needed to benefit all youths across the country.

“The 1 000 hectares availed so far is a stepping stone to our ambition to ensure that each and every youth is empowered with a stand and it will not be enough therefore we will petition for more land from the President,” he said.

“We need to reserve land for the youths hence we have called on officials from the ministry of local government and responsible authorities to stop allocating farms to individuals in peri-urban centres until the majority of youths are availed with stands.”

He said Zanu-PF was dealing with the issue of illegal land allocations.

“There are 10 000 hectares of land in Manyame and if that is fully utilised we can have 80 000 stands for our people and we can even extend into Beatrice for more allocations. The land is ours, we will not hesitate,” Cde Chipanga said.

“We are saying goodbye to illegal occupation because this scheme will ensure that land is freely and accurately allocated to deserving youths across the country.”

Cde Chipanga took a swipe at pastors indulging in politics.

“Pastors should leave politics to the politicians and focus on healing and deliverance of people, else they should not blame us for what comes their way,” he said

“We respect men of cloth that know their duties and not those that want to encroach in our business and destabilise the country. Pastors that decide to take politics into their own hands should not blame us tomorrow.”

He urged youths to participate in national events.

“zanu-PF will not be shaken by unruly groups seeking to destabilise a peaceful country. They should be warned. We are here to support the livelihood of the nation particularly that of our youths,” said Cde Chipanga.

Farms that were given to youths include Manyame, Shawasha B, Norton and Harare South.

The land would be developed by the Urban Development Corporation.
